The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP)

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) funds graduate-level studies in economics, business, science, technology, and other development-related fields for students from ADB's developing member countries. The scholarship covers full tuition, a monthly living allowance, books and materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses. Additional support may include thesis preparation grants, computer literacy courses, or language training when required for academic purposes.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least two years of full-time professional work experience. They should be nationals of an ADB borrowing member country and under 35 years old at the time of application. Priority is given to candidates from low- and middle-income countries.

Preference is often shown to applicants with strong academic records and demonstrated commitment to development work in their home countries.

Candidates must first apply and gain admission to a participating academic institution. After securing admission, they should submit the ADB-JSP application form along with required documents such as academic transcripts, proof of employment, and income statements. Applications are typically submitted through the chosen university, which then forwards selected candidates to ADB for final review.
