The Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowships support Indian doctoral scholars conducting research on climate change-related issues in the United States for six to nine months. Open to Ph.D. candidates registered at any Indian institution, these fellowships aim to strengthen long-term capacity to address climate challenges in both countries. Research areas include clean energy technologies, climate finance, climate justice, climate-smart agriculture, and related fields.
The program fosters cross-border collaboration between Indian and U.S. institutions to advance solutions for climate resilience and mitigation.
Applicants must be Indian citizens registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. There are no restrictions based on caste, gender, or income. The fellowship is open to all academic disciplines relevant to climate change.
Applicants should have a strong academic record and a well-defined research proposal aligned with the fellowship’s thematic areas. Proficiency in English is required for U.S.-based research.
Submit an online application through the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) portal before the deadline. Required documents include a research proposal, academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and proof of Ph.D. registration. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
