Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme

The Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme funds early-career researchers to conduct postdoctoral research at higher education institutions in Ireland. The scheme is open to applicants from any academic discipline who have completed or are about to complete a doctoral degree. Fellowships are tenable for one or two years and provide a fixed annual stipend and employer contributions toward social insurance.

The programme is administered by the Irish Research Council and aligns with Ireland’s national research priorities.

Applicants must have completed or been certified as having fulfilled all requirements for a doctoral degree between 31 May 2015 and 31 May 2020. There are no nationality restrictions, and candidates from India or any other country are eligible to apply. The scheme is not restricted by age, gender, or disability status.

Applicants must secure an agreement with a host institution in Ireland before submitting the application.

First, identify and contact a potential supervisor at an eligible Irish higher education institution to agree on a research proposal. Prepare the application form, including a detailed research plan, host institution support letter, and academic references. Submit the completed application online through the Irish Research Council’s application portal before the published deadline.

Late or incomplete applications are not considered.
