The Japanese Government MEXT Scholarships 2027 (Research Students) is a scholarship for Indian students who wish to pursue research studies in Japan. This scholarship, offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan, supports research students at Japanese universities. It aims to strengthen academic ties between India and Japan by enabling Indian scholars to contribute to research and cultural exchange while studying in Japan.
Indian nationals in the age group of 18 to 35 years are eligible. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent for master’s level research and a master’s degree for doctoral research. Candidates should have a strong academic record and must secure admission to a Japanese university before applying.
There are no specific income or marks thresholds, but preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated research potential.
Apply through the Embassy of Japan in India by submitting the required forms, academic transcripts, research proposal, and letters of recommendation. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The official page lists the current application process and required documents.
