The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University is a one-year leadership development program for emerging civic leaders from around the world who are committed to addressing global and local challenges. The program combines academic study at Columbia University with practical training, mentorship, and networking opportunities through the Obama Foundation. Scholars work on innovative solutions while building skills to scale their impact in their communities and beyond.
Open to rising leaders from any country, including India, who have a track record of civic engagement and a bachelor’s degree. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, a clear commitment to public service, and the ability to contribute to social change. There are no strict academic or income thresholds, but experience in community development or related fields is expected.
Candidates must be nominated by an eligible organization or individual before applying. After nomination, applicants complete an online application that includes essays, letters of recommendation, and a resume. Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed.
