Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships – Research Fellowship

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships – Research Fellowship supports Indian researchers who wish to pursue postdoctoral or medical specialization research in Switzerland. The fellowship is open to candidates from all academic disciplines and is tenable at Swiss cantonal universities, federal institutes of technology, or public research institutes. The program aims to foster international academic exchange and research collaboration between India and Switzerland.

Recipients receive a monthly stipend and access to Swiss research facilities, enabling them to advance their work under expert supervision.

Open to Indian nationals who hold a PhD or equivalent degree in any field, or are medical doctors with a specialization. Applicants must have secured a research placement at a Swiss host institution before applying. There are no age restrictions, but candidates are typically expected to have completed their PhD within the last five years.

Preference may be given to candidates with a strong academic record and research proposal. The scholarship is not available for undergraduate or master’s level studies.

First, identify and secure a research position at a Swiss university or research institute. Prepare a detailed research proposal, academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a curriculum vitae. Submit the application online through the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships portal before the specified deadline.

Include proof of contact with the Swiss host institution and any required language proficiency certificates. Late or incomplete applications are not considered.
