The Harry Frank Guggenheim Distinguished Scholar Awards support scholars from any country who are conducting research on violence, aggression, and dominance in human and animal behavior. The awards are open to individuals pursuing advanced research, typically at the post-doctoral level, though no formal degree is strictly required. The program prioritizes innovative, interdisciplinary work that advances understanding of these critical social and behavioral issues.
Recipients receive funding to further their research outside the constraints of degree requirements, allowing for independent and impactful contributions to the field.
Open to citizens of any country. While most recipients hold a Ph.D., M.D., J.D., or equivalent degree, formal degree requirements do not apply. Applicants need not be affiliated with an academic institution, though many are affiliated with universities or research organizations.
The award cannot fund research that is part of a graduate degree requirement. There are no restrictions based on age, gender, or income.
Submit a completed application form along with a research proposal, curriculum vitae, and two letters of recommendation by the stated deadline. The proposal should clearly outline the research objectives, methodology, and significance of the work. Ensure all documents are in English and follow the formatting guidelines provided on the official program page.
