Entry requirements at Christian Brothers University
Let’s talk about admissions & aid at Christian Brothers University. Yes, we’re competitive — and yes, we care about grades. But we also care about the impact you have on your community and the aspirations you hold for effecting positive change in the world. Bottom line is this — if you want to be here and capitalize on the opportunities we can provide, then we want you here too, and we’ll do everything we can to help you get here.
We encourage students to come as they are, to follow their passion, and to make the most of their time at CBU. It’s part of who we are —and that freedom is what defines being a Buccaneer.
We know that applying to college can be overwhelming. Our application options and clearly outlined process help make it as streamlined and straightforward as can be. Basically, each application is reviewed based on your grade point average and your standardized test scores (which are optional). Be sure to take a look at our Application Checklist just to make sure you don’t miss anything!
And remember, your admissions counselor is happy to walk you through the process, answer all of your questions — and then connect you with folks who can help you with things you need to know after you apply, such as paying for college, choosing classes, living on campus, or anything else.
For the greatest admission and scholarship consideration, please apply by our Priority Preference deadlines:
A CBU education is a powerful investment in your future, so we make sure that attending CBU is a decision families can afford. We offer a robust array of merit scholarships — with awards starting at $10,000 and increasing up to full tuition — along with need-based scholarships to ensure that a CBU education is attainable. We also offer a large selection of loans and grants. And we’ll walk you through the process, answering your questions and connecting you with our Financial Aid resources.
A visit to our campus — in the heart of metropolitan Memphis, Tennessee — will help you gain a true sense of what it’s like to be a CBU student and connect you with all we have to offer: a beautiful campus, friendly people, wonderful faculty, and opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom. We offer several visit opportunities. Feel free to contact us to schedule a personalized individual visit, where you and a couple of guests will be given a tour that’s customized to your interests. We’d also love to talk to you about arranging a group visit and putting together something special for your school, youth group, club, or team. If you’d like to take a look around before you’re able to visit in person, we also offer a virtual tour that offers a guided tour of the main locations that a CBU student might visit on a typical day or a self-guided “explore” option.
Our counselors are here to help you successfully navigate the application and admission process. They’re always available to answer any questions you might have, and they’re more than happy to share their experiences and help make the application process more fun and less stressful.
