Whether you are interested in a doctorate, or you are already at the doctoral or postdoctoral stage - TH Köln sets the focus on promoting young academics. TH Köln counts about 220 doctoral researchers - with an upward trend. The number of postdocs supported at TH Köln in pursuing their further academic careers is also increasing continuously.

At TH Köln there is, firstly, the possibility of a cooperative doctorate in collaboration with universities in Germany and abroad. Secondly, numerous professors at TH Köln are involved in the Doctoral School for Applied Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (PK NRW), through which structured doctoral programs are offered.

Founded in 2016, the interdisciplinary Graduate Center of TH Köln is the central point of contact for anyone interested in or already pursuing a doctorate at TH Köln. Enhancing the quality and framework conditions of doctorates at TH Köln is an essential concern for us. In addition to providing detailed advice for those interested in pursuing a doctorate, doctoral researchers, postdocs, and supervisors, Graduate Center organizes a variety of events, qualification offers, and networking opportunities in cooperation with various central institutions of TH Köln, as well as funding programs for doctoral researchers.

The Doctoral School for Applied Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (PK NRW) is a joint scientific institution of the 16 state and four state-funded universities of applied sciences and the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration NRW. At PK NRW, outstanding master's graduates from universities of applied sciences and universities can realize their doctoral projects in structured doctoral programs in close cooperation with the universities of applied sciences. The doctoral degree will be issued by PK NRW. Doctoral researchers at PK NRW are obliged to enroll at TH Köln and PK NRW.
