Attending college is one of the most important investments of your life, as you will need to consider both the quality and cost of your education. However, it's not a decision you have to face alone. We're here to help you figure out the best plan for paying for school. College Affordability and Transparency Center was designed by the U.S. Department of Education to meet requirements in the Higher Education Opportunity Act and to provide better information to student and parent consumers about college costs.

A variety of grants, loans, scholarships, and other types of aid are available for undergraduate and graduate students. Numerous benefits are also available to veterans of the armed services. Visit the Office of Veterans Affairs page to learn more.

As an HBCU, we have a long and proud history of offering educational access to students from all walks of life, and financial aid is a key part of that. Ninety-five percent of our undergraduate students receive some type of financial assistance, and 40% have received some institutional scholarships or grants. The Lincoln University Financial Aid staff is here to work with you and help you figure out exactly what you need and to make sure you get it.

First, follow the instructions below to get started on applying for financial aid.

Whether you are a new or returning student, your first and most important step will be filling out and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The StudentAid.Gov website will provide instructions for completing your FAFSA. Please note: Lincoln University's Federal School Code is 003290: you'll need that to complete your form and ensure we receive it. The 2026-2027 FAFSA is filed for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and the Summer 2027 semester funds. The 2025-2026 FAFSA is used for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and the Summer 2026 funds.

The 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is open to all students after October 1st. It determines your financial aid eligibility for the fall 2026, spring 2027, and summer 2027 terms. Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds (includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans) would need to complete the FAFSA form annually. We use the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid you are eligible to receive. It takes around 30 minutes to fill out the FAFSA which includes gathering the personal and financial information needed to complete it.
