Indian students interested in entry to PG programs at LMU Munich need to have completed a UG degree in a similar field. UG programs require a high school leaving certificate (HSC) with a minimum 70% in the Class 12th exam, equivalent to the German Abitur (higher education entrance qualification), along with an official assessment of the same. A valid proof of German proficiency (TestDAF, DSH) is also required for entry to UG programs, since these are only available in German. An APS Certificate is mandatory for entry to both PG and UG degree programs at LMU Munich.

Students whose high school qualifications are not equivalent to the German Abitur, need to attend a Studienkolleg program and clear a "University Entrance Qualification" (HZB) exam like the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP).
