Technical University of Denmark History

On November 5, 1829, the father of electromagnetism - Hans Christian Ørsted created the Technical University of Denmark. DTU started its journey as the College of Advanced Technology in 1829 and offered its first MSc programme in Engineering at a high academic level. In 1933, the university was renamed Danish Technical College. Later in 1994, the university acquired its now-known name - Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Allotment shall begin in May and Nov. Students are advised to sumit their applications as early as possible to avoid rejections. On-campus housing is available for only a fixed period, which is, either 1 semester or 2 or 4 semesters

How many campuses does the Technical Institute of Denmark have?

DTU mainly consists of five campuses: 

  • Lyngby Campus
  • Ballerup Campus
  • Riso Campus
  • Hirtshals Campus
  • Sisimat Campus

Apart from this, the university also has three wind turbine test sites located in Riso campus in Roskilde, Test Centre Hovsore in Lemvig and the Test Centre Osterild close to Thisted.
