University Putra Malaysia History
In 1931, John Scott founded the School of Agriculture. It was then known as the College of Agriculture Malaya. It was called Universiti Pertanian Malaysia from 1971-1997. In 1997, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad, Prime Minister, changed name to Universiti Putra Malaysia. Universiti Putra Malaysia has Institute of Bioscience, Institute of Advanced Technology, Institute for Mathematical Research, Halal Product Research Institute, Institute of Gerontology, Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies, Institute for Social Science Studies and the Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
