Postgraduate Admission Requirements

• A relevant UG (minimum 3 to 4 years / 180+ ECTS equivalent), with a final grade equivalent to German 2.5 or better (roughly 60–65%+, depending on the Indian university’s grading scale)
• For English-taught MSc programmes (Computer Science, Environmental Sustainability): English at B2 (IELTS 5.5 to 6.0, TOEFL iBT 72+ or TOEIC 785+)
• For German-taught Master’s programmes: German at B2/C1
• A valid APS certificate, plus a uni-assist preliminary review (VPD) for holders of foreign degrees.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

• A completed Class 12 (HSC) is generally not sufficient on its own for direct UG entry.
• Most Indian students complete a Studienkolleg (1-year foundation course) first
• 1 year of a recognised Indian Bachelor’s degree can sometimes qualify for direct entry, assessed individually via uni-assist, German language proof at B2/C1 (Goethe-Zertifikat, TestDaF, DSH, or Studienkolleg Feststellungsprüfung) for German-taught Bachelor’s courses
• A valid APS certificate

It is almost necessary to have a good knowledge of German language as the university accepts that most of its courses are offered in German only. For proving the German language proficiency, Indian students need to have a B2/C1 level. They can include certificates like Goethe-Zertifikat C2, Test DaF, DSH-2.

For the English-taught courses like CS and Environmental Sustainability, Indian students would require a B2 level of English (TOEFL iBT with a min of 72), IELTS with an overall 5.5.

Studienkolleg note: As an Indian student, you cannot directly apply for a German Bachelor’s at TH Bingen with a class 12 certificate. To apply, you would need to complete a 1 year bachelors from India and get it evaluated via uni-assist.

The second option is to attend a Studienkolleg which is a one-year German foundation program ending in Feststellungsprüfung or FSP (a non-optional final examination in Germany).

Tip You Can’t Miss: Without German skills, the most practical route for Indian students would be to apply directly for the TH Bingen English taught programs like the MSc Computer Science. TH Bingen offers free German classes on campus, so while doing your English-taught degree, you can learn German which is super helpful in placements later.
