History

The origin of the University of California Davis (UC Davis) can be traced back to 1908 when the University Farm School was established as the science and research-based unit of UC Berkeley. The school started operating in 1909 with just 18 students. It was renamed the Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture in 1922. Its name was changed again to the College of Agriculture at Davis in 1938. The college grew into a general campus in 1959 and was given its current name.
